Mercury Retrograde Press publishes fantasy and science fiction that explores the edges of genre, myth, and the sentient mind. Fantasy with a psychological edge and character driven science fiction are specialties of the house.
We believe authors should have collaborative relationships with their publishers--and, by the same token, they should be active participants in sending their stories out into the world.
We love big books, in both the volume-of-paper and density-of-ideas senses. We love series that come about because their ideas just won't fit inside one set of covers. We love style and sophistication in language, philosophical mashups, and the grey areas of everything. We love the way books smell, and the way a really fabulous sentence sounds--whether read aloud or inside our own heads. And we love sharing our discoveries with the world.
What we're looking for
The Mercury Retrograde imprint publishes novel-length works, in series or stand-alone, of 100,000 words or more per volume.
The Hermes imprint publishes series and collections of novellas and light novels (20,000 - 80,000 words per volume).

* a few notes about yourself and your background
* the first five pages of your novella or novel
* a synopsis that includes plot, climax, resolution and important character arcs

How we publish
Books released under the Mercury Retrograde imprint are published in Trade Paperback and eBook formats.
Hermes books are published as eBooks; select Hermes collections are released in Omnibus Trade editions when complete.
